Spine Idaho: Gunjan Patel

Gunjan Patel

Physical Therapist

Originally from India, Gunjan has always been fascinated with human movements and how the musculoskeletal system works. She graduated from Maharashtra University of Health Science with a bachelors in Physical Therapy in 2009. In 2011, she received her masters in Physical Therapy from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, where she researched the effects of stretching and strengthening exercise in the thoracic spine for patients with COPD.

She practiced PT in India for 7 years in both hospital and outpatient settings, working with a variety of orthopedic and neurological patients. She enjoys treating patients with spinal disorders, SI joint dysfunctions, and postural impairments. She has a special interest in Myofascial disorders. Treating fascia is an important part of treatment as any fascial tightness can restrict the mobility of various other structures like muscles, nerves, vessels, and joints. In 2018, Gunjan was trained and certified in Myofascial Decompression, more popularly known as cupping therapy, and became the 1st provider in Idaho to hold the MFDc designation.

In 2017 she moved to Idaho with her husband. She enjoys playing with her 1 year old son, and loves watching him grow day by day. Her favorite pastimes are painting, playing badminton, and travelling with family.
